Officially Single

Our secret liaison ended up well and I’m not gonna say any negative things about my Aso. Oh, yes, I am officially single and looking. Those days are over.

The sexiness that is Angelo Ilagan

I was starting to wonder who the hell Angelo Ilagan is. Is he a model or an ordinary citizen? I talked to somebody online (whose self-importance, insensibility and other unprofessional behavior are at the highest level) about him. He claimed to be personally related to Angelo Ilagan by hook or by crook. I have this funny feeling that it was a na├»ve, young guy who doesn’t know what else to do in life but to browse the net either seeking for attention (fame) or probably trying to find his lost soul (his place in this crazy world). But thanks for his information, anyway. He said “Angelo Ilagan is an actor and now concentrating on his studies and his work out” – something that an ineffective and untalented actor would do as an excuse for their lack of achievements in the industry.

Meet Ramiele Malubay of American Idol 7

Ramiele, I always thought your name is Mariel. But that doesn’t really matter, anyway. I’m glad you joined American Idol 7 and actually made it to the semis. I saw your audition and I know right off the bat that you got what it takes to become one of the finalists and sail through the finale. I liked your performance during the first week of the semis, but that song is just so yesterday. I hope you’ll perform more familiar and upbeat songs. – SMA

Brent Chua: The Asian Sensation

It was over a month ago when I featured Brent Chua in this blog. Until then, I knew nothing of this supermodel. But he's phenomenal and looks great in each pose he makes (a chameleon-like model). He's currently enjoying the positive reception he got from modeling and is now based in New York. Due to overwhelming (an overstatement) response from readers, I am posting more pictures of Brent Chua, the Asian Sensation.

The Bonbon Series: Simon Atkins

He’s probably the most gorgeous ball-handler I’ve seen last year—one of the few faces to die for. I haven’t seen him in person so I’m only basing from his Hanford pictorials and other pictures in the net. I hope he’ll do sexier pictorials for magazines. Simon Atkins, born 19 July 1988 (according to my old source) or 15 January 1988 (according to a Friendster account), is the middle child to Englishman Allan Atkins and the former Ellen Lamorena. He has two siblings (both females). Simon is the ball-handler of De La Salle University’s Green Archers and has rubbed balls against Ateneo’s Kirk Long in Candy magazines UAAP special issue last year. "School and basketball takes up all of my time. If I had extra time, I can play badminton, squash and volleyball. I did not join any other extra-curricular activity like the school clubs."

On TARA: Rovilson Fernandez screwed up the last task

Congratulations, Collin and Adrian for winning The Amazing Race Asia 2. I could feel your happiness. To Marc and Rovilson, that was very, very close. I cheered for you, guys. But I understand. Shit happens.

Best Love Songs 2008

Of the 1,135 songs currently saved in my iTunes library, a number of them will surely stand on its own this love season. I’ve added these songs back to my 3-year-old iPod Shuffle and enjoyed them during spare time. Some of them are released ages ago. Some of them are mushy (“I’d give you everything that I am. I’m handin’ over everything that I’ve got. ‘Cause I wanna have a really true love.” – Gwen Stefani’s 4 In The Morning), but I simply loved them.

Here are 22 songs you might wanna listen to, regardless if you’re celebrating this year’s Valentines with your boyfriend or girlfriend, best buddies, friends or family. If you’re dateless, you are definitely not alone. Rejoice. You may not have one right now. But somewhere down there, you will find that person you have been looking for all this time. He’ll walk down the aisle, like an angel floating from the skies (in slow motion), carrying a bunch of flowers in one hand (and a go-go strap in the other), with nothing on but a pair of go-go boots, skimpy bikini and a black silk bow tie. Okay, I‘m bubbling.

The golden Piolo Pascual

Here’s Piolo Pascual in his golden suit from a Bench ad. When was the last time he posed naked? I can’t remember ever seeing Piolo in his undies aside from that Lagarista clip I’ve seen from I am not a big fan but I wanted to see more. He’s gorgeous, chunky and endowed with amazing talents. Piolo celebrated his 10th year in show business last November.

Currently, Piolo stars with Angel Locsin in the hit television series Lobo and co-hosts the music variety show ASAP ’08, both on ABS-CBN. He started his career in 1997 and had his first big movie break entitled Lagarista in 2000 where he received his first Gawad Urian nomination for Best Actor. He also starred in several Star Cinema movies including Mila (with Maricel Soriano), Milan (with Claudine Barretto), Paano Kita Iibigin (with Regine Velasquez), and in movies co-starring Judy Ann Santos, including Don’t Give Up On Us where he won a Best Actor award from the 23rd Star Awards for Movies in 2007. His next movie is the romantic comedy I Knew I Loved You (with Angel Locsin).

Manila's Humongous Malls

Ten shopping malls rank as the world's largest, based on the amount of Gross Leasable Area – the number of square feet the property has for revenue-generating activities like retail, dining and amusements. Asia is home to eight of the world's 10 largest malls, six of which were built in the last three years. Rankings are based on statistics from Eastern Connecticut State University, which compiles data from mall management companies.

Shiny Plastics

It was the first time I thought of what was an ordinary day at home – me in front of my desk inside my room, Mom in the kitchen downstairs doing her stuff and my two nieces in the sitting room watching television. (We lost the maid few days ago. She didn't like my niece's stubbornness.) I had my breakfast more than an hour earlier that time but the idea of having a small meal reverberated from the distance. Remember, I need to gain 10 to 15 more pounds to delight myself (and the prying eyes of my associates?).

I didn’t really try to find out what exactly a good small meal would mean but as an assumptive person that I am, I went out to buy some junk foods (Pillows, Nova, etc.), a drink called Tropicana Twister (orange or pineapple flavor, I can’t remember), sweets, candies and a pack of Marlboro Lights cigarette. I was a coin short but fortunately (or so I thought), I got some when I turned out my pockets. When I gave him my due, I noticed that the salesman has a small piece of magnet on his hand and all the coins started flying into the magnet.

I thought he was playing around at some point but as I turned my back, he said I owed him 4 pesos. He said the coins I gave him were imitations except for two, and showed me the magnet with four coins stuck into it. He probably noticed my curious face reaction because he further explained that real coins won’t stick to any magnet. Though I gave him back one of the items I had, I went home bothered as to how I got the fake coins. Or are they really counterfeits?

I remembered reading an article about Philippine coins being smuggled by a number of Taiwanese citizens. The coins are sold in China, melted down and the derived metals are used to manufacture electronics goods like mobile phones. As a response, the Central Bank of the Philippines changed the composition of coins it produces. I can’t remember what exactly the type of metal they used but surely, they lessened the use of copper and nickel to produce coins. I was thinking that the coins I have might be pieces of those new wave of coins produced by the bank.

Have you heard about fake coins circulating in the metro? I can hardly tell the difference, but to be honest, I wouldn’t go out with a piece of magnet in my pocket.

The sexy (and changed man) Andrew Wolff

Lighter by 10 pounds, Andrew, 22, is saying goodbye (and good riddance!) to his bad-boy image. Never too late. “It’s 2008 and I’m now clean-living,” says Andrew half-jokingly, throwing a misty-eyed look at his past checkered with a turbulent love affair (with former Hot Babe Gwen Garci) and near-violent clashes with some people (one of them Cesar Montano during a boxing exhibition in which Cesar accused Andrew of throwing “foul” punches at Cesar’s younger brother Rommel). “I’m a changed man now,” he adds with a serious tone. Andrew and his team (composed of “imported” Pinoys like him) brought a medal home from the recent SEA Games in Thailand where they competed in rugby — “Rugby as in football,” he clarifies, lest some people mistake it for the stuff street boys are fond of sniffing. “It was the first time that the Philippines competed in that event.”

Burned by his showbiz romance(s), Andrew is now careful about getting involved with showbiz girls. “Am I dating? Yes, I am — with a non-showbiz girl. But that’s all I want to say.” The son of an English professor (who has decided to retire in Cebu at a London school (his mom, from Mindoro, is working in England where she met Andrew’s father), Andrew is the best example of a guy from a decent background gone regretfully wrong. “Now, I’m following the right direction,” promises Andrew who has done a few commercials (among them for Bench of which he’s an endorser) and some TV guestings. “I’m staying away from BIs (Bad Influences) and from trouble. Expect a ‘new Andrew Wolff’.”

Victoria's Secret: The sexiest list of 2008

Victoria’s Secret has come out with its annual ‘What Is Sexy?’ list. It seems like I'm not the only one here that loves cute lists. I wonder how they came up with this, but I think this one's extraordinarily decent. Click on the link below to see the list.

How To: Gain Weight

I was roused by the sudden silence of the room last Saturday at midnight. Ironic, I know. But I went to sleep that night with my iTunes on. I played rock hammers – alternative, punk and soft rock music – the whole night. But it appears that the last song added to The Hardest I Could Stand folder (playlist) has been played already – marking the end of the effectivity of these unprescribed sleeping pills. The silence was both unusual and comforting. I couldn’t hear a thing except for the occasional wheezes I made. I checked out the clock and realized it was still too early to get ready for the day yet. But in spite of the extended siesta I had, I sensed pressure coming ahead.
