Good Stories

If the title contains three different things, you should know it. That I am simply bored and simply updating the blog for the sake of it. I know that they are pretty unorganized. But they come from the heart so keep going…

Sexiest Male Billboard

Manila is a huge combat zone for desperate advertisers. Each has their own methods of engaging their target audience, but the most effective has always been putting an incredibly catchy billboard (a very rare occurrence) along EDSA and other major roads or by simply asking sex symbols (models and other superstars) to flaunt their naked bodies in absurd attempts to sell the pieces of crap they’re sporting. In any case, we, in this silent world, enjoy the enormous pleasure stirred by these imageries at the back of our dirty minds. But regardless, I still wonder how this excessive vanity would affect the young minds. I remembered saying one time that some of these images are excessively unsuitable for public exhibition and that people are becoming more concerned about seeing the models naked and care less about the product they’re endorsing. I think that same goes true for Bench Body’s Dingdong Dantes.

The Bonbon Series: Dingdong Dantes

Dingdong was simply an eye candy before – someone who stars in teenybopper TV shows and movies. He has been a loyal prince of this little kingdom called GMA Network, waiting for the right recognition one awaits in showbiz while he’s counterparts in the other station have expedited far enough on their own leagues. But he remained faithful to his mother network and after more than a decade in the industry, his hard work finally paid off. Dingdong is now one of the most bankable leading men of GMA, along with Richard Gutierrez and Dennis Trillo. He was the lead actor of several GMA fantaseryes (fantaserye, according to Wikipedia, is a genre of Philippine television which mixes soap opera, fantasy, myth, magic and enchantment) including Encantadia, Atlantika, MariMar and Dyesebel. Most recently, after his Hanford Underwear contract expired, Dingdong signed up and joined the big family of Bench Body.

Still alive and kicking!

It’s not what we love to call a blogging hiatus. I was just too busy pulling up my performance at work to get a bigger share of the pie. But I’m back from the slammer (the office) again. Will celebrate this rare opportunity to unwind. Three days. That's more than I could ask for. I am still alive and, yes, kicking. I’ll be posting the usuals again. Maybe later after a lonnngggg nap. BTW, I wanna say thank you to that Tani Kevin P (and to some anonymous visitors), I could always see you coming back to this humble blog. Thanks. (That's Aso and I at the lobby of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU). Remember? We went to Intramuros last 4 March 2008. Does anybody know how to get a nice watermark?) Read more...

The bittersweet memoirs of Brian Gorrell

Brian Gorrell, an Aussie gay guy who fell in love to a Filipino social-climber socialite who only betrayed his trust and allegedly stole his riches, reveals one piece of this country’s cracked culture. It’s real drama like no other. Not even Survivor could excite me more than his innocent ways of unveiling the shocking reality of some unforgivable Filipino characteristics. I discovered a link to his blog like 2 days ago (via Bryanboy: Le Superstar Fabuleux). Let me call the blog Memoirs of Brian Gorrell as it doesn't have a proper name yet. For nosy readers, you will be surprised to discover some fishy affairs of people like Celine Lopez of The Philippine Star, Tim Yap, DJ Montano, and many more. Don’t forget to check all posts. Brian, you should write a book about it. BTW, I really hope that everything ends up okay at the end of the day.

Manila's Ugliest Hospital

Based on a survey commissioned by the London Financial Times, Quezon City (or simply QC) was regarded as one of the top 10 Asian Cities of the Future. It was ranked 7th among more than 200 Asian cities surveyed, with Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei in 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Both the national and the local government are in the process of converting that expanse of squatters along EDSA (near TriNoma) into a modern Central Business District (CBD) – something I have always envisioned before. QC is considered as the richest city in the country in terms of current assets, cash in banks share of internal revenue allotment (IRA), gross income, and gross net income by the Commission on Audit. QC has been showing no sign of reluctance or ease as it continues to invest on and support infrastructure, job creation and businesses.

But not all that glitters are gold. Yesterday, I’ve seen one of the most disappointing actualities this city hides: the Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH). It is, by a mile, the ugliest hospital I’ve ever seen. It’s so surprising that the country’s richest city failed to construct a kick ass hospital or medical institution that would truly characterize its magnificence as a leading city. QCGH sucks – the archaic appearance, the gloomy ambience, the smell, the outdated mode of operation and, most significantly, the unprecedented unfriendliness of the staff. If QC is really poised as a City of the Future, all services has to be in balance. The people will not be blinded by big malls or tall buildings, they don’t benefit from these brews. But medical services and other small things directly affect their daily lives and could change their views and impressions about the government.

Discover Dingdong Dantes

Dingdong is Bench Body’s newest hunk endorser. Purchase a national broadsheet (i.e. The Philippine Star) today and see him spread his legs to project a Spider-Man-like image with nothing on but a piece of skimpy, white Bench Body underwear. So it’s “Goodbye, Hanford and Hello, Bench!” Also, if Clear shampoo campaigned for Black Valentines, Bench clothing wants Filipinos to experience White Summer. I couldn’t disagree more. Check out some nice and sexy pictures from Bench’s White Summer theme and tell me what’s in your mind.

San Sebastian Church

On our way to Intramuros yesterday, Aso and I dropped by at the San Sebastian Church for short silent moments and photo op. San Sebastian Church is located in Quiapo, one of Manila's older districts. Surrounding it are rows of old houses. The Church of San Sebastian is made of a steel frame and panels and is known for its distinct characteristic – that of being the only neo-gothic steel church in the Philippines and in Asia.

Sweeter The Second Time

Somebody from the past told me that love is sweeter the second time around. I’m not really sure if it’s true or not but I might just find the answer soon. Aso (that gay guy) and I decided to give it a shot for the second time. Every person deserves a second chance. He’s changing for the better. I’m changing for the better. Let’s say we’re exclusive for each other now again and happy about it. No one really cares, I know.
