What Movies Did I Miss?

Whether you're gonna use the following for your Pinoy Henyo game or charades, you will find the most extensive and most complete list of Filipino movies in this post. (Ok, well, not complete for now, as I am so tired to complete this list today, but this will surely grow as days pass by.) The list is sorted alphabetically for your convenience. If you didn't notice, some of the titles of Simply Manila blog entries came from titles of old movies (mostly foreign). It was only recently when I found a list of Philippine movies in Wikipedia, but I'm posting this for my reference as well. If there's anything you want to add to the list, feel free to leave a comment below. Enjoy.

Babaeng Hampaslupa

I heard that TV5 will rattle some ABS-CBN and GMA execs once again as they produce their biggest primetime soap ever. The series will also star Susan Roces, Alice Dixson, Alwyn Uytingco, Freddie Webb, Jay Manalo, Karel Marquez, Mart Escudero, among others. Check out the teaser of Babaeng Hampaslupa after the jump.

History Repeats Itself

I just reached a flattering 100,000 page views for this month, which only means it's 2009 all over again for Simply Manila. I wanted to promote my blog starting next month and increase readership twice compared to this month's visits and page views. In case you're interested, I'm still looking for someone to co-write or co-own this blog. My prospect already vanished in oblivion. So, anyway, it's Sunday again, the end of a busy week for most of us. See the popular posts and search keywords after the jump.

My Dreams Interpreted

If Dream Moods: Your Dream Symbol Interpretation is to be believed, then I like how my dreams are going so far. Just before I woke up this morning, I dreamed of money with my friends, then we traveled to a suburban place where they're suddenly gone in the picture, apparently I was headed to the house of someone I know by name and by face, we played sungka (or bantumi) together; then I saw trees outside their house and finally a horse at the end of my dream. Unfortunately, I didn't find the interpretation for bantumi which gives me something to wonder. See how the other words and phrases in bold above interpreted after the jump.

Meet Lady Gagita

Lady Gagita, the Pinoy's favorite Lady Gaga impersonator, made my Saturday. I was just browsing through some videos in YouTube while talking on the phone with Bonbon when he asked me to view Lady Gagita's Telephone parody video. I'm sure I've heard of the term Lady Gagita before and I think I simply dismissed the idea that they're probably referring to a comedian who regularly appears on television and in some comedy bars. What I didn't know is that Lady Gagita is a YouTube sensation, parodying the videos of the popular singer he impersonates using funny, crappy, recycled props and costumes. See the Telephone video after the jump. I was told these were only recorded via a mobile phone video camera. Impressive. Click here to visit Lady Gagita's channel.

What's your love story?

StarStudio, a showbiz magazine owned by ABS-CBN, is the first showbiz magazine I ever purchased from a retail store. It was after shift a while back when my friend asked me to go with him to the newly-opened Savemore Supermarket in Muñoz, where the previous Jackman is located. We were there to check the store out, but we also went on a little shopping and took a quick Paotsin snack. There were no other magazines available (I was actually looking for the February 2011 issue of Men's Health, with Aljur Abrenica on the cover.) so I ended up checking out the February 2011 issue of StarStudio, and guess what, it took my boredom away while inside the cab on my way home after. It was the magazine's Showbiz's Best Love Stories issue (Oh, yeah, Valentine's coming!), where they featured the story of Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano (the one I didn't read yet because I don't know the guy), as well as the interesting story of Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez and the controversy-ful love affair of Rayver Cruz and Cristine Reyes. So, anyway, for all showbiz fans, I think it's worth it to spend a hundred bucks for this magazine. It was really entertaining.

Daniel Matsunaga Kissed A Girl

How true is it that Daniel Matsunaga was caught on a CCTV camera kissing an unidentified girl? I was told by my current buddy about it two days ago. Let me see if I could find an article or pictures online. Two minutes later: Wow, I didn't know that the video is actually available online. If this is not any promotional video for whatever show, or if this is really Daniel, then I feel sorry for Heart. Didn't Daniel Matsunaga's family came over here few weeks ago to meet Heart and celebrate Daniel's birthday? We are gonna keep an eye on this one.

Sexy Paolo! Sexy Paulo!

How many Paolos or Paulos do you know personally? I haven't asked myself this question and when I did today, just because I saw one Paolo Rivero picture online, I laughed at the thought and to the coincidence that my current buddy's name is actually Paolo. It's just that we call each other Bonbon, so he never occurred to me instantly every time I see a picture of someone named Paolo. Maybe from this moment I will. So, anyway, this is supposed to be another series of Random Pinoy Hotties, but this time, I thought of just posting all the sexy Paolos or Paulos we see on television, in movies and in prints. Enjoy.

Baguio's Nagoya Bar

It's refreshing to read articles about real-life gay experiences of ordinary Filipino gay guys. More refreshing compared to watching Filipino gay indie films. Here's one shared through the Yahoo! Group I am a member of where the reader shares his wonderful Baguio visit, most especially his one-time visit to the City of Pines' gay bar scene. I had fun reading his story. Read it after the jump. BTW, the picture above is not from the Baguio bar that will be mentioned in this post, but from the newest entertainment gay bar in the Philippines, the Machette Entertainment Bar. Enjoy.

Bus Explosion Killed Four

Makati – While inside the cab a while back on my way to the office, I heard Don Manolo (It's the second time I heard him, also inside a cab few months ago.) ranting about death penalty through his radio show, and the discussion came up because of a recent incident that occured in the country. I knew something happened, but I'm not sure what it was so I assumed he was referring to the kidnapping/homicide incident that happened recently in the north. When I came to the office, an e-mail sent to everyone got a subject that says advisory on the incident that happened along EDSA, and I thought this was it. A blast took place inside a Newman Goldliner passenger bus around 2:00 pm today, January 25th, the e-mail says. Makati police claimed that the blast was likely caused by an explosive device, and as of this writing, at least 4 people are confirmed dead and several others are injured. This is yet another sad day for the Philippines, and I pray that the victims will be given justice by ensuring the perpetrators of this incident are caught and punished. Good night, Manila.

Here's some more presents for the gay community and for everyone that simply adores the male beauty and physique: Jason Paul Calma Laxamana's collection of sexy men. Search him on Facebook. Meet the sexy stars of Dwarfina

GMA is offering a lot of new TV series this year, well, of course, with the same stars that appeared on their previous series. So it's like watching the entire cast of The Vampire Diaries appear on Gossip Girl. Aside from Machete which will premiere tonight, they already launched Dwarfina earlier this month which featured the team-up of Heart Evangelista and Dennis Trillo. The show brings us to the world of the dwarfs, and accordingly, the show is inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Thumbelina. Meet the sexiest cast of the show after the jump.

What's In Your Dream?

I had a bad dream last night, and before I will forget about it, I wanted to write it down. In my dream, I died without any indication of sickness, accident or any other kinds of calamity, and it was not also suicide or murder. I just died, and I didn't notice at first, because in my dream, my soul still lives in my body, I still talk and walk. It says that it will be judgment day at the end of every month. It will be decided whether one goes to hell or heaven, I assumed. I didn't meet God but some people working in a hospital-like environment, somewhere that also looked like a cozy lobby area of a corporate building. There, they processed our papers which look somehow similar to a death certificate and kind of an application form. I was worried, and I think I was crying, because I didn't want to die yet. But I think my dream ended there. I've been dreaming a lot lately and though I forgot almost all of them, some stays with me for few hours even when I am already awake. I never thought of searching the net for dream interpretations, so I did that today and got really logical and seemingly accurate analysis. Visit here to see what your dreams mean, and see what my dream means after the jump.

Following Nestea's Nicos

I didn't know that the sensational Nestea TV commercial has other parts continuing the story of the broken-hearted Nicos (Neil Coleta). Honestly, I admire the talents of those who are in the advertising industry in the Philippines. They're really good in what they're doing, and I hope the same expertise can be said true to the writers, directors and makers of TV series. Our actors are really good ones, too. Neil Coleta here is better than the Neil Coleta we could see acting in TV5's Lipgloss. Okay, so that one's a bluff because I haven't really seen any Lipgloss episode yet, but what I'm trying to see here is that the advertising industry (or some) has successfully maximized the potentials of Filipino actors and actresses, I hope the execs in television can do the same for the actors. See the Nesta commercials after the jump.

New Hunkies Bubbling Up

It's Sunday yet again, the last day of the week where all Christians should spend a little time in the church, enjoy a family day at the mall or go somewhere else but home. I woke up only few hours ago as I was still so hammered from yesterday's wedding event I attended to (and also hosted), but now that I regained a little energy to jump-start a new session out, I might just go out and, yes, try to hear mass after a long time of hiatus now. Before I proceed with my little plans for the rest of today, here's my week-ender post this week. Well, I'm glad we have a new number one post today, Meet Nestea's Neil Coleta, and a few changes in the list of popular posts that made me smile for some reason. As for the popular searches, Neil Coleta's still heading the lead with new hunkies bubbling up. Enjoy. Ciao for now.

On TV: Meet the sexy Mutya stars

I find it so tasteless and annoying at times for die-hard fans of, say, ABS-CBN or GMA to lash out on one another when, in fact, most of the local shows are just copycats from, well, one another or from popular international shows. It was only today when I first heard about the show Mutya via Twitter so I tweeted back my friend and asked if Mutya is similar to the show Beauty Queen. Then some dick I don't even know personally lashed out and pretended he didn't know the show Beauty Queen, assumed I was a GMA fan and acted so weirdly. When at the end he suddenly realized I was just merely inquiring, he told me that Mutya is about mermaids, as if casting my doubts about Mutya being a Beauty Queen copycat. So my friend also told me that, and after a little research, I found out that Mutya is indeed another series about a mermaid, starring Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, a real beauty queen. Who knows that the star mermaid will soon have legs, and eventually become a beauty queen at the latter part of the show's story, right? LOL. See the trailer after the jump and the hot stars in this new series, though I can now see some flabs in Alfred Vargas.
