Be bitter a little; Rejoice big time

Thanks to Falcon which just left the Philippine area of responsibility (or so I think), several plans last weekend have been postponed or rescheduled including my first out of the city trip this month—an overnight stay and island-hopping trip to Zambales’ majestic coves. Not that I’m a travel whore, but it’s really high time for me to experience a change of scenery to clear out my head. With a few exemptions, most of the faces I see in the office are getting uninteresting and uninteresting every single day, and I don’t want to lose myself in that jungle. When you’re not happy, go quit, right? But it’s not that easy, and I love the company I’m working for. So, yeah, I’m staying. I know God has bigger plans for me, and me handling a new team starting tonight is probably a start. There’s a lot to thank about so let’s be bitter a little but rejoice big time. Yet again, THANKS for your continuous support and see last week’s top posts, keywords and visiting countries after the jump. Email us at simplymanila@hotmail.com. Ciao for now.

Rizal Mania Hits Simply Manila

We recently celebrated the 150th birthday of Jose Rizal but what do we know about this guy? A lot of diehard Rizal fans may know everything, but regular guys like us know just about enough to say that he’s a true hero worthy of such commemorations. While some opted to worship Rizal’s greatness through weird cults and in other bizarrely ways, I could simply agree that it’s always good that we have someone to look up to. What I am more curious about though doesn’t have to do with his works and achievements; I am more interested on his appearance which until now remains as vague as Jesus’ real face. Hmm, interesting comparison, eh? Both of them have been unfairly executed and their childhood days are somewhat a mystery. I’ll let my minions do some homework. LOL. Check out some actors who recently portrayed the national hero in movies and musical plays plus some cool Rizal arts by Team Manila after the jump.

This blogger was escorted out of the bar!

It took me a few days to update this blog yet again, and that’s blameable to my overrated social and professional lives combined. But if there’s one thing I have validated (or probably revalidated) in the past two weeks, it is the truth behind the combination of sleeplessness and alcohol. You can honor only one need at a time because if you will disrespect both, you’ll be really sorry. Two weeks ago, I was escorted out of Tides by a bouncer who really got the hot for me (or rage, if hot sounds differently). Last Saturday, I almost lost my job by showing up in the office smoking drunk. I thought I can hide it, but then again, sleeplessness and alcohol should never be combined. BTW, I was at Tides last Saturday again and the bouncer and I already made a peace pact. LOL. Let’s see what we have for last week’s top posts, keywords and visiting countries after the jump. Stripped to the bone!

Here’s a flash update. Or as my ex would put it, a mema post (may ma-post lang or mema-post lang). Well, for the record, over 90% of the blog entries here are just mema posts, and he’s just bitter. LOL. But here’s what makes this entry more mema than usual: More than sharing the fact that the following men all ‘Stripped’ recently in Zirkoh, their given names also share one common denominator—they all started with letter J. Lame-o, right? Let’s toast to that. See entertainers Jake Mendoza, Jhonmark Marcia, Jordan Jordico and Johnron Tañada after the jump. Email us at simplymanila@hotmail.com. Ciao for now.

Ed Westwick endorses Penshoppe

MANILA, Philippines — When acclaimed local fashion brand Penshoppe announced that Ed Westwick (who’s the talk of the town and social networking sites these days ) is its brand ambassador for its 25th anniversary, fans and Blair Waldorf-wannabes were beyond excitement for this collaboration. Ed’s alter ego, Chuck Bass, in hit CW TV series Gossip Girl may be the resident devil that girls love but underneath that bad boy appeal and the tuxedo-clad-Upper-East-Sider’s irresistible debonair looks is a well-rounded guy who plays soccer, the guitar, and who can sing (he was the former frontman of indie band called The Filthy Youth) and as Ed says, “one thing he (Chuck) will never have on me is this English charm. He’s got that American charm, but he doesn’t have the English charm, you know” which all more makes girls fall in love. One thing’s for sure though, Ed and Chuck both have a great fashion sense. When Ed is not in his usual polished formal attire on-screen, he reveals his edgy side in graphic tees, jeans and jackets.

Dynamiting People's Curiosity

I think one of the downsides of outing your blog to a few people close to you is the fact that your stories get limited to a certain level of private experiences, or in some cases, none at all. Unless your blog is meant to explore your inner desires, you’d be restricted to share private stories and experiments because of fears of being judged unfairly. This is somehow happening to me right at this moment, which reminds me of how differently I pictured this blog during its conception. But did I have regrets? I’d say no, and I’m just happy how it simply touches lives and dynamites people’s curiosity about Manila and, most of the time, its men. Taylor Lautner becomes new Bench endorser

Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame has been tapped as the newest Bench endorser. This was the latest good news relayed to Funfare yesterday afternoon by my sosyalista DPA who didn’t say if Lautner would model shirts and pants or, why not, underwear. Lautner is the perfect Bench model. During our second interview, I asked Lautner (who was friendly and engaging) how he developed his six-pack. He smiled and said, “I worked out five days a week. At the same time, I had to eat every two hours…six egg whites, bacon and toast in the morning as suggested by my trainer. The working out was easy but the eating part was hard. I had to add calories because my body fat was only about eight percent.” Lautner is the latest Hollywood star hired as endorser of a local brand. Natalie Portman modeled for Kamiseta, followed by Katie Holmes. Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick was here two weeks ago to shoot as endorser of Penshoppe.

The young and sexy Aries Peña

Meet Aries Pena (or is it Aries Peña?), the macho dancer (or stripper/rent-boy) from the movie Boy. Few months ago, I was looking for a DVD copy of that movie in Landmark but I didn’t find any. I also tried downloading it but I didn’t find any torrent available. Today, however, as I was browsing through some Thai blogs, I found some Boy videos posted online. You’ve been in that kind of ironic situation, too, right? You’re looking so hard for something you can’t find and just when you have given up, it will find you. That’s how Boy discovered me, and how it reminded me that one of the reasons why I wanted to watch the movie is because one of its protagonists, the cute face who played the stripper named Aries, is, in real life, a stripper named Aries. His erect member also made an appearance, and, boy, it was hot.
