Hari ng Negros: The Negrense Tradition

While most, if not all, winners of this contest did not end up in the modelling industry or in showbiz, we are still grateful to see that such an event, which is ubiquitous in Metro Manila, exists in the provinces, too. And it's kind of unique, too, knowing that I haven't heard any male beauty pageant anywhere else in the Philippines which starts with King on its title. Yes, I am talking about King of Negros, but does it mean that this year is their last edition? Or am I just confused with their choices of words? I will try to feature their past winners here in the days to come.

Hari ng Negros started in 2003 as Ginoong Canlaon, a city in Oriental Negros and grew to what it is now. One of the most prestigious male pageants in the country. In 2010, the staging was moved from Canlaon to Dumaguete City and was welcomed with open arms in the City of Gentle People. This year marks the 10 year of the pageant, sadly it is true that this will be the final year. 25 candidates completes this year's finalists and they will be presented to the public on Aug. 4, 2012 at Robinsons Place Dumaguete
