Mindanao, the country’s southern portion, is probably one place in the country where people can’t truly speak their opinion without the possibility of having their heads cut off. It is home to the notorious Abu Sayyaf group, and other extremist groups, who would rather prefer to have their own governing body and jurisdiction apart from the Philippines. For years, we have seen how many lives have been traumatized by this unending upheaval, but with the signing of the new peace agreement recently (and I say new as I’m pretty sure this process has been done many times before), some are hopeful that it will truly bring peace in Mindanao. I’m doubtful, to be honest. As far as I know, taking lives in this area is as simple as eliminating someone from a Survivor tribe. The terrorists as a whole comprised only one piece of a pie. But I have faith in people, and with this turn of event I give them the benefit of the doubt. So why am I talking about Mindanao and its people? Today, as we continue the Pinoy Records series, we will rank Mindanao’s largest cities/towns based on population.

the cities in mindanao look really clean, spacious and organized. the opposite of cities in luzon.
Where? Haha. Joke lang. I love Mindanao and CDO particularly. Sana mag-step up at maplano ng maayos ang improvement ng mga syudad na to para hindi sabog ang dating in the future. Dapat talaga may ala-Burnham na nagpaplano e
Please modify your statement "is probably one place in the country where people can’t truly speak their opinion without the possibility of having their heads cut off". This is truly offensive for those people living in Mindanao. I live in Mindanao for almost 30 years and the scenario is contrary to what mass media is trying to portray. Christians accounts the majority whereas Muslim is only minority. Please do your thorough research first before you make hefty conclusion.
How dare you speak of Mindanao as war torn region. Just because a small minority muslim extremist is giving the region a bad image doesn't mean that you generalize them. Come to think of it, Mindanao is much cleaner than Metro Manila. Atleast hindi kami flooded region
Bobo talaga ang nagpost nito. peabrain size imperialist Manila. No wonder your mind is polluted
Please correct your statement about Mindanao. Mindanao might be known for its wars and terrorist-laden lands for the people of Luzon, but for us from Mindanao, its a home and a paradise. Muslim extremist groups operate only in small secluded communities or towns. The same minority composition of their counterparts in Luzon, the CPP-NPA! The statement offensive and misleading. The same offense I take whenever foreigners tag Philippines as an impoverished country. I grow up in Mindanao and never felt safer living there for so long. I must say I felt safer walking in the streets of Mindanao than standing in any public areas of Manila at any given time. I thought this such irresponsible and uneducated post.
I love Mindanao as I came from Zamboanga Sibugay where we lost a few members of our family to the sensitive and merciless neighbors of ours in 4 or 5 different scenarios/reasons. When I also visited Zamboanga City about 3 years ago, we were advised to zip it like we're not allowed to say anything. Same experience when I visited Pagadian City. When I went to my hometown, I was advised to keep a low profile and stay out of sight. Even Coca-Cola delivery guys were ambushed, a Rural Transit public bus was burned with all the passengers inside, etc. It's maybe offensive to the locales living in Mindanao, but I didn't feel at home even to my own home when I went there so I'm writing from experience. Davao City on the other hand was a different experience. It's highly urbanized, people are friendly and I felt safe during my entire stay there.
